Masing: Refrain from stirring racial issues in Hulu Rajang

KAPIT: Senior Minister and Minister of Land Development Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing advised the constituents of Hulu Rajang not to play any racial tune while propagating their candidates in the coming general election.

“I advise all the constituents in Hulu Rajang to refrain from playing the racial tune. In the past 20 years, Hulu Rajang had always been free of racial sentiments during elections and we hope to keep it that way:’ said Masing while officiating at a meet-the-people gathering at Rumah Lugad, Sungai Majau, near here recently.

On NCR land matters, Masing who is also the President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), advised the NCR landowners to cooperate with the relevant government agencies to speed up the perimeter survey on their land.

He called on the folk to stop listening to rumours churned out by the opposition parties, especially as election time is near.

Masing also advised them to give their fullest support to whoever is the chosen Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Hulu Rajang.

His Private Secretary, Wilson Ugak Kumbong, has been wildly tipped to replace the incumbent, Datuk Billy Abit Joo, in the Iban majority seat.

Among those attending the function were Kapit Resident Dahim Nadot, Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit, Pemanca David Dian Langkau and Pemanca Tan Kian Hoo, enghulu Salang and some 15 Tuai Rumah from the surrounding longhouses.
