Two areas in Daro, Dalat’ gazetted as NCR land
MUKAH: Batang Serdeng in Daro District and Kampung Sungai Kut Muara in Dalat District are additional areas in this division to be gazetted as Native Communal Reserve (NCR).
This was disclosed by Mukah Superintendent of Land and Survey Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood recently.
“The Land and Survey Department is currently in the process of gazetting two addit ional areas in Mukah where survey has been completed, covering some 764.8 hectares,” he said.
He stated this in his welcomi ng speech at the ‘State Land Code Section 6 Notification Gazette’ presentation held at PDRM Multi-purpose hail here.
The event was officiated by Minister in Chief Minister’s Office and Minister of Special Functions, Tan Sri Amar Haji Adenan Haji Satem. Zamhari also encouraged, the landowne rs to submit application for their NCR land to be surveyed under the new Initiative.
“For that, the land applied for survey must be free from dispute and court cases.
“The native communities having a NCR have control over their land and will also be able to detect and prevent any unlawful intrusion or encroachment upon their land because the Gazette will describe clearly the surveyed land within the declared NCR,” he said.
Zamhari pointed that the rights over the land gazetted as communal reserve is administered and regulated by the native system of personal law - of the native communities concerned.
“This means that the acquisition, usage, transfer or trans- mission of rights and privileges over land, buildings or any structures thereon shall be governed by the customary law of the natives for whose benefit the NCR is declared,” he added.
Daro Assemblyman Dr Murni Suhaili and Semop Assemblyman Abdullah Saidon were also present at the event.
Others included Land and Survey Deputy Director (Management) Haji Ibrahim Lumpu, Mukah Deputy Resident (Social) Philip Peter Salam, Dalat/Mukah District Council Walikota Haji All Suhaili, Mukah District Officer Mohamd Nawawi.
