Land survey to be carried out on NCR land in Betong
BETONG: The divisional Land and Survey Department is set to carry out perimeter survey on another 1,136 hectares of native customary right (NCR) land in Betong division.
Land and Survey divisional superintendent Anthony Aboi who identified the area to be located in Kampung Tuie, Pusa said that the perimeter survey work was expected to be carried out after this year Hari Raya celebration.
Anthony who spoke at a dialogue session with the affected NCR landowners at the village’s mosque last Friday called for full co-operation from them as it was vital to expedite the survey work.
He stressed that one of the objectives of the perimeter survey was to accord recognition to the NCR land thereby putting an end to various problems such as land dispute, overlapping claims, trespassing and so on.
Reiterating his call for the land owners’ full support, Anthony said the perimeter survey would only be concluded with the gazzetting of NCR land as communal reserve under Section 6 of the State Land Code.
“After the perimeter survey, my department is tasked to carry out survey on individual plots for which we will issue titles as provided under Section 18 of the Land Code,” he explained, adding, “as in the case of perimeter survey, all expenses incurred for carrying out survey on
individual plots will be borne by the government.”
Stressing that surveying of NCR land was a sincere effort of the BN government to overcome the various problems affecting the NCR land, Anthony advised the landowners not to listen to misleading statement made by irresponsible parties.
‘If the landowners are not clear on certain matters related to the perimeter survey, they should seek explanation or clarification from the Land and Survey Department, as more often than not, information obtained from other sources can be very misleading and inaccurate,” he advised.
Among those present during the dialogue session were Penghulu Sulaiman, Spaoh district officer in-charge Bujang Ladi, Penghulu Satar and about 100 residents of Kampung Bungin and nearby villages.
