Opposition trying to sabotage perimeter survey – Awg Tengah
Long Teru: The Opposition tried to sabotage the BN government’s NCR land perimeter surveys by deploying agents to masquerade as officers of the Land and Survey Department and saying only three acres each would be surveyed for each owner.
Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management cum Minister of Public Utilities Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this when officiating at the rural packaged water treatments plant in Long Tabing in Ulu Tinjar and Rumah Mathew Sigat in Ulu Tinjar yesterday.
“They try to sabotage it, saying only three acres would be surveyed and the rest would be taken by the government, and this means the Opposition is against the government’s and NCR land owners’ wish for the survey,” he said.
Awang Tengah pointed out that much needed to be done despite huge sum of allocations for Sarawak under the NRKAs of RM5.2 billion, excluding projects in the 10th Malaysia Plan.
He pointed out that for Marudi constituency, a total of RM62 million was allocated for the roads, out of the RM1.5 billion for the whole state under NKRA, and RM43 million out of the RM1.7 billion for rural water supply programme.
“All the allocations under NKRA for Sarawak are huge. The impact is not very much felt due to the sheer vastness of the state and the population scattered, and there is much more to be done,” he said.
According to him, the close federal and state government relationship has facilitated smooth implementation of these projects outside the 9th and 10th Malaysia Plans.
This shows that the BN government is committed towards meeting the aspiration of the people in rural Sarawak compared to empty promises and political rhetoric of the opposition parties.
Awang Tengah said PKR, SNAP, DAP fall fancied taking up the chief minister’s post as reflected in the squabble in the run-up to the 10th state election.
“They are already fighting among themselves before an election, and they have not even won and one could not help but wonder what kind of a government they would from if they win,” he said.
Also present at the function were Assistant Minister of Water Supplies cum Assistant Minister of Land Development, Sylvester Entri Muran, permanent secretary to Ministry of Public Utilities Haji Ubaidillah Latip, Miri divisional Public Works Department (PWD) engineer Goh Soon Boon, and Penghulu Enggah Muga.
The three packaged water treatment plant at Rumah Entika, Sungai Poyut, Rumah Mathew Sigat (Penghulu Enggah) and Long Tabing cost about RM6 million under the pilot scheme and Baram under the special project scheme.
The projects under the inclined plate technology was undertaken by contractor Wiramatan Sdn Bhd, and Awang Tengah also approved RM30,000 for the Long Tabing longhouse cement road project and RM10,000 for Rumah Mathew Sigat in Ulu Teru.
