Perimeter survey on NCR land in Telang Usan almost completed

BARAM: The work on native customary rights (NCR) land perimeter survey in Telang Usan is almost completed, bringing much delight to about 500 people of Long Aton and the surrounding villages.

Telang Usan assemblyman Lihan Jok made a working visit to Long Aton to see for himself the progress of such survey.

During the visit, Lihan also expressed his satisfaction on the job well done by the contractor, LS Survey Consulate Sdn. Bhd.

He took time to walk through the perimeter work with Ulu Tinjar community leaders Penghulu Joseph Belulok and Long Aton village chief Michael Kebing.

“Our lost dream and wishes have come true.  We have worked hard with the surveyor for the last five to seven weeks.  ‘Thank you’ to our state assemblyman Lihan Jok for personally taking his initiative to expedite the survey work,” said Penghulu Joseph.

Michael also expressed his gratitude on the job well done.

“’Thank you’ also to our Sarawak Land and Survey Department (SLSD) for making our long time dream a reality and thank you to YB Lihan Jok for  taking effort to make sure the surveyor do their best, by coming to visit the workplace himself,” he said.

Out of the 3000 hectares applied for, the SLSD had approved almost 2000 hectares of NCR lands near Long Aton.

For the remaining land not recognised as NCR, applications will be made to have them surveyed and measured through other means as stipulated in the Land Code.  Lihan advised the people in another area of Long Loyang to submit their application for the remaining NCR lands to be registered.
