Sng: NCR land survey guarantees ownership

KAPIT: The ownership of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land will be guaranteed by perimeter surveys under the government’s new NCR land initiative.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office Larry Sng said the surveys would ensure the land can be passed on from one generation to the next.

“NCR land perimeter survey is the BN’s (Barisan Nasional) new initiative to add value to the land and guarantee the ownership.  I urge owners of NCR land to give their full support to the survey party conducting the field work to ensure smooth and speedy survey work, so that it can be completed on time,” he said.

He also called on NCR land owners not to sell their land for a quick profit.

“Land is an important asset and land yields lucrative returns when converted into productive purposes for crop planting, poultry and livestock, pond fish, etc.

“Also, with the land title, owners can apply for government agriculture schemes or food production loans from Agrobank,” he added during a dialogue session organized by the Land and Survey Department on Thursday at Rumah Baying, Belawai.

He cited rubber and pepper as commodities that  fetch high prices in the market.

Sng also advised the people to continue to support the government.

“Should there be any grievance or need arising from time to time, please contact me any time, anywhere.  I’ll try my best to solve it, otherwise bring the matter to the relevant agencies for further action,” he said.

NCR land perimeter surveys in Belawai, which will involve some 1,000 acres, are scheduled to commerce next month.

Three survey parties will conduct the work, which is expected to be completed with two months.
