I refer to the statement reported in various local newspapers relating to the demolition of 20 roadside hawker stalls at Kilometer 65, along the Bintulu-Miri junction of the coastal road near Nyalau and wish to make the following clarification.

The 20 roadside hawker stalls along the junction of the coastal road near Nyalau are actually empty and unattended.

The Department had issued letters to all the stall owners on 25th March 2008 to remove their stalls and they were advised to move to another location in Nyalau about 12 kilometer from the previous location.

Therefore, I wish to clarify that during the demolition on the 19th of September 2008, the hawker stalls at Kilometer 65 along Bintulu-Miri Junction of the coastal road near Nyalau had ceased operation and not as reported.
