250,000 hectares of NCR land to be surveyed by year end


KOTA SAMARAHAN : A total 250,00 hectares of NCR land in the state will be covered by the ongoing perimeter survey by the end of this year.

This was disclosed by Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, yesterday.

He said last year, a total of RM20 million had been allocated for the purpose and 28 areas involving several thousand hectares were surveyed.

“This year, we have already approved over 100 areas involving 200,000 over hectares. Together  with that of last year, our target is to do perimeter survey for 250,000 hectares by the end of 2011,” he said, adding that another RM30 million were approved for the purpose this year.

According to Tengah, the state government is really committed to protect the rights and interests of the Bumiputera, particular those related to NCR land.

“This is not going to be completed within one, two or three years because the NCR lands are scatted everywhere, in some cases far in the interior.

“Our priority now is to do perimeter survey but ultimately, we will do survey for individuals,” he said.

Tengah said this during the presentation of compensation cheques and handing over of gazette for Bumiputera Communal Reserveed Lands at the Civic Centre here yesterday.

Compensations given out to 86 recipients yesterday totaled over Rm3 million.

They were for land acquired for the upgrading of Phase 4 of the Mambong-Sejingkat Road while the gazette for Bumuputera Communal Reserved lands covering a total of 673.637 hectares were presented to 14 kampung.

The kampung were Merang Lama, Merang Baru, sungai Turong, Bedega, Bintawa Lama, seruit, betong Kanowit, Tanjong Bundong, Baru, Tambey, Muara Tuang, Pinang, Entingan and Nangka.

Also present were Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Haji Mohd Naroden Majis, Muara Tuang Assemblyman dato Seri Haji Mohammad Ali Mahmud, Asajaya Assemblyman Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sadong Jaya Assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo, Samarahan Resident Rodziah Morshidi and Samarahan Divisional Superintendent of Lands and Survey Rozlan Haji Putit.
