Don’t sell NCR lands advice
SRI AMAN: People especially owners of Native Customary Right (NCR) lands in the state constituency of Bukit Begunan are advised not to sell their NCR lands as they can provide them with good income if the lands are developed the right way.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Research & Marketing) Datuk Mong Dagang, in giving the advice pointed out the owners could develop their lands through commercial crop planting or through entrepreneurial joint undertaking with the government to reap good income.
Speaking at the opening of a Helping People Programme (MEMBARA) at Rumah Morris Tukok in Antik here last Thursday, Mong, who is also the State Assemblyman for Bukit Begunan also advised the people to give their cooperation to the work of perimeter survey undertaken by the Land & Survey Department on their NCR lands.
“The surveying work will enable your NCR lands to be gazetted under Section 6 of the State Land Code and gain recognition of the government.
“As such, I hope you owners of the lands wit cooperate fully with the department on this for facilitation of applications for assistances after the lands have the recognition,” he urged.
The presentation of gazetted land document was also held for 26 community leaders representing their respective people during the programme.
Mong also announced an allocation of RM20,000 to the village development and security committee of Rumah Morris and another RM5,000 to the longhouse’s Women Bureau.
Masir Kujat, the MP here, also announced an allocation of RM5,000 to Rumah Morris JKKK and another RM3,000 to its Women Bureau.
Also present at the MEMBARA Programme last Thursday were divisional Land & Survey Department superintendent, Mohd Razali Arshad, JASA parliamentary constituency officer here Whelton Lumpoi, divisional Social Welfare Department assistant director here Sharifah Ranimah Wan Assim and the community leaders.
