Adenan: Be reasonable in NCR land claim


LIMBANG: The people are urged to be reasonable when making claim for their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land and especially not to exaggerate on the (land) size.

Minister of Special Functions Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem that claims for (NCR) land should be done in a transparent manner and based on the actual acreage.

He said the government would not meet claims that were not reasonable and thus had been scrutinizing every claim made.

“Don’t exaggerate land area as wide as you can. Be reasonable,” he said when handing over documents for the Declaration of Native Common Reserve (Agriculture) land under Section 6 of the State Land Code, here yesterday.

Among those present were Bukit Kota and Batu Danau assemblymen respectively. Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Paulus Palu Gumbang and an officer from the Land and Survey Dept Awg Mohd Indera Putera Awg Adnan.

On a related subject, Adenan said the new NCR land perimeter survey now being carried out in the state, was received warmly by the land owners.

He said the department had received more than 500 applications for such survey in Sarawak and over 100 came from Limbang.

He added that 15 areas in the (Limbang) division had been gazetted as Native Common Reserve (Agriculture) land under SectIon 6 of the State Land Code.

Land owners in three other areas (Pengkalan Gurah, Kampung Melanjan and Kampung Reda/Semabat) were given declaration documents at the function yesterday.
