State Barisan Manifesto Focuses On Technical Education And NCR Land
KUCHING: The state Barisan Nasional supplementary manifesto contained more details on issues relevant to Sarawak, said PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Masing.
On education, for example he said the national manifesto focused more on higher education while the state was more interested in technical education.
“We are going for technical education, which we want to emphasise on because that’s where our needs are,” he told reporters after the Launch of the manifesto at the PBB headquarters here yesterday.
According to the manifesto, the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) will create 836,000 direct employment opportunities for professionals, engineers and technicians, semi-skilled manpower and unskilled manpower by 2030.
Masing said the state also wanted to improve its infrastructure and public utilities, including rural electrification and water.
He said another area which the state had jurisdiction over was land.
“We want to improve on land, to provide more security on land not only for the natives but for all Sarawakians. Therefore the (perimeter) survey becomes very critical for us and that’s why the manifesto will come in.”
In the manifesto, the state Barisan said 328,705ha of native customary rights (NCR) land had been surveyed so far and more would be surveyed in the coming years.
Masing said both the national and state manifestos would be used during the election campaign.
But we will concentrate on ours because it is more relevant to Sarawak. We are taking points from the national manifesto and adding in certain matters to areas which are more relevant to us.
