State government urged to speed up NCR land survey in Ngemah

THE state government should speed up the perimeter survey of the native customary rights (NCR) land development project in Ngemah, urged its assemblyman Alexander Vincent.

“The boundaries between NCR and state lands have been determined and imposed under Section 6 of the Land Code, therefore individual lot survey needs to be carried out under Section 18 of the Land Code for this area,” he said.

Alexander, in his debate speech, also urged the authorities to improve or upgrade the old infrastructure facilities in primary schools in his Constituency.

“I would like the relevant authority to look into improving or upgrading the infrastructure facilities, some of which are a century old, in more than ten primary schools and kindergartens in my area,” he said.

When debating the state Budget 2013, he also made some requests for three main infrastructure projects implementation in Ngemah.

They concerned “the construction and completion of tar-sealed road from Kpg Ng Poi to Kpg Ng Ngungun Resettlement Area, which is approximately 14km and is part and parcel of the road connecting Kapit and Sibu.

“Secondly, the construction and completion of tar-sealed road from Ng Ngungun to Ng Jagau Resettlement Area which is approximately 23 km.

“And thirdly, electricity supply connecting the main power line to about 80 villages and longhouses along the Nibong-Tada Road,” he said.
