KUCHING (Feb 11): The Enforcement Division of Sarawak Land and Survey Department has been rebranded as the Enforcement and Mineral Branch, effective as of Jan 1 this year.

The department, in a statement, said this rebranding was in line with Enforcement and Mineral Circular No. 1/2026.

“The rebranding aims to strengthen the department’s role in land enforcement, as well as the management and regulation of minerals in Sarawak, in tandem with the rapid development of the state’s land and mineral sectors.

“The move also supports the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which identifies the mineral sector as a new driver of Sarawak’s economic growth,” it said.

The department added that based on the circular, in view of the rebranding at the headquarters level, the head of the branch had been redesignated as ‘Assistant Director of Enforcement and Mineral’.

“At divisional office level, the head of the divisional Enforcement and Mineral branch, is redesignated as ‘Head of Divisional Enforcement and Mineral Branch’.

“In line with the rebranding, the organisational structure of the branch has also been streamlined.

“At headquarters level, the branch is supported by five main sections: Licensing and Mineral Section; Prevention and Operations Section; Investigation and Prosecution Section; Land Development and Use Section; and Branch Assets, Logistics and Governance Section.

“At divisional office level, the operational support is implemented through the Physical and Operations Unit, as well as the Licensing Unit.”

The department also said the circular had outlined a clear chain of command to ensure directives, coordination and administration would be carried out effectively and in a disciplined manner, in accordance with the Sarawak State Public Service General Orders.

“We are confident that the rebranding and restructuring would enhance enforcement capabilities, improve governance of land and mineral resources, and support the responsible and sustainable development of the mineral industry for the benefit of the state and its people,” said the department.
