BINTULU (Feb 9): The Landas Summit 2026 serves as a strategic platform for management and professional officers of the Sarawak Land and Survey Department to refine strategies and celebrate achievements.
The director Datu Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood said the summit, first held in 2020, drew inspiration from Singapore’s SCS One Team Retreat 2025, focusing on strengthening strategies to ensure continued service excellence.
Among the key programmes throughout the ongoing event is a forum, ‘The Untold Success Stories of My Division’ where divisional superintendents share successful strategies and action plans; and ‘The Capstone Forum’ by top management, discussing the department’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
“The summit also features best practice sharing on land-based revenue collection by the Johor and Negeri Sembilan Land and Mines Offices, as well as a technical visit to Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd,” he said at the opening ceremony yesterday, where Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the event.
Adding on, Awang Zamhari vowed that the department would continue to strengthen its reputation in innovation and governance after securing multiple international accolades last year.
“We obtained MS ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System certification on Feb 6, 2025, covering the provision of land administration and management.
“At the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2025 under the Public Service Innovation Asia category, four divisional Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) teams brought home gold and silver awards: the innovations presented by Mukah’s ‘Smart Patrol’, Sri Aman’s ‘Retrace’ and Samarahan’s ‘i-Telcos’ received gold awards; while Kapit’s ‘SARCOM’ bagged silver.
“The teams also received special awards from international innovation bodies from Poland, Canada, Japan and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations,” he said.
In addition, Awang Zamhari said the department also won the ‘Digital Government Award’ at the Sarawak Digital Economy Awards 2025, held in conjunction with the International Digital Economic Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025; and secured a silver award in AKPANS 2025 under the ‘Main Department’ category.
In his speech, Awang Zamhari also highlighted the growing adoption of the department’s eLASIS, which recorded 467,621 online transactions last year, generating RM17.554 million in revenue.
