SIBU: The Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) gathered 290 staff from across the state for the second series of its ‘Level Up: Empowering the Service Pulse’ programme at RH Hotel Sibu from October 2 to 3.

The two-day programme, aimed at executive staff (Grade 1), is part of JTS’ ongoing effort to improve efficiency, professionalism, and human capital development in line with its vision of delivering world-class public service by 2030.

Director of Land and Survey Sarawak, Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, described executive staff as the backbone of the department, playing a crucial role in serving the people.

He encouraged them to pursue promotions, further studies, and departmental innovations while stepping up as leaders, expressing hope to see more executive staff recognised with awards alongside management and professional colleagues.

The programme featured three speakers focusing on self-management, digital security, and work culture.

Telemachus Lo from SMT (Skills, Management and Training) Learning Solution highlighted strategies to face modern workplace challenges with discipline, productivity, and emotional intelligence, while retired ASP Rahmat Fitri Abdullah spoke on tackling scams and cyber threats, and Hafiz Mustapha shared insights in his session ‘Social Media, Emotions, and AI: Public Survival Kit in the Digital Era’.

The programme’s key objectives included strengthening discipline and work quality, improving staff wellbeing, and increasing awareness of digital security.

JTS, in its statement, hopes that through such initiatives, its workforce will remain competitive, uphold integrity, and deliver the best service to the people of Sarawak while continuing to introduce more high-impact training programmes in the future to sustain service excellence across the state.
