SIMANGGANG: The 22nd Sri Aman Benak Festival drew to a grand close at the Regatta Grandstand on the Sri Aman riverfront, with the ceremony graced by the Head of State of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, today.
They were accompanied by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, and his wife, Datin Simba Nalang.
Upon his arrival, Wan Junaidi was greeted by cultural performances, such as a silat demonstration, a lion dance, and the beating of Iban drums, followed by a tour of the available governmental agency display booths.
He praised the Sri Aman Benak Festival 2025 Main Committee for organising an exceptional event that drew visitors and participants from near and far.
He also congratulated Landas Cahaya Helang Tasik for their triumph in the festival’s highlighted event, the 30-paddler bidar boat race, which secured them the coveted ‘Raja Sungai’ title.
After the closing ceremony, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah witnessed the tidal bore, followed by a tour of the exhibition area, which featured displays from various governmental agencies and departments.
The showcase highlighted development initiatives and achievements designed to benefit the local community, enriching the celebratory atmosphere of the festival grounds.
