KUCHING: The Land and Survey Department Sarawak (JTS) has received the MS ISO 377001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan congratulated the department for its unwavering commitment to anti-corruption efforts, which led to the successful attainment of the ABMS certification.
“Congratulations to the Land and Survey Department Sarawak for receiving this certification. In just three months, we have successfully achieved this.
“This ABMS serves as a guideline for anti-corruption management in detecting, preventing, handling, enforcing, evaluating, and improving aspects of integrity, accountability, and governance.
“With this ABMS certification, the public will no longer have doubts when dealing with this department, thereby strengthening confidence in the department specifically, and Sarawak’s public service in general,” he said in his speech during the closing ceremony of the LANDAS Summit 2025 at the Sheraton Hotel here on Wednesday (Feb 26).
On another note, Awang Tengah stated that the Land and Survey Information System (LASIS) Next-Gen needs to be in synergy with artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance the efficiency of land administration services.
“AI technology opens up so many extraordinary opportunities, but we must remain vigilant about its risks.
“I recall an incident in Norway, where deepfake technology was used to imitate the face and voice of a world leader. In Malaysia, we have also seen how a video of former US President Donald Trump speaking in Bahasa Iban went viral,” he added.
He further said that through more accurate data integration and intelligent systems, the department can achieve a more efficient, transparent, and competitive land management system.
“AI not only helps automate administrative processes but also enhances our ability to analyse data in-depth, identify patterns, and make accurate predictions.
“This approach will undoubtedly reduce errors and improve efficiency in service delivery to the public,” he said.
Also present at the closing ceremony were Deputy Minister of Urban Development, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, and director of the Land and Survey Department Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood.
