KUCHING: The Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) is striving to enhance its public services by leveraging data technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

In a media statement on Friday, its Director, Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, stated that JTS has evolved beyond a mere administrative organisation, becoming a crucial institution in Sarawak’s development, particularly in ensuring efficient land management and administration, well-planned infrastructure development and the continued welfare of the people.

“In line with the state government’s digitalisation agenda, and to ensure that the people of Sarawak receive faster, more transparent, and user-friendly services, I believe that today’s challenges require the department to innovate, adapt, and move towards more efficient and reliable digital services.

“JTS must remain committed to embracing these challenges by modernising its services, particularly by accelerating the digitisation of work processes, a key initiative introduced on the platform of the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK),” he explained.

He made these remarks while speaking at the 107th Anniversary and Chinese New Year 2025 Celebration held at Menara Pelita here on Friday.

He further noted that by using AI and big data, JTS can improve efficiency in monitoring, development planning, and the delivery of information to the public more quickly and accurately.

The celebration culminated with the cutting of a cake to mark JTS’s 107th anniversary by the department’s senior management, followed by a group photo session with around 450 JTS staff members. -UKASnews
