SARATOK: A total of 20 landowners in Sabit, Roban here have received land compensation cheques for the Roban Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) Phase 2.

The cheque presentation ceremony was officiated by the Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, at the Saratok District office hall and was organised by the Betong division Land and Survey Department (JTS) on Thursday.

The project involves the Iban and Chinese communities within the Kalaka constituency.

A total of 70.95 hectares of land is involved, with total compensation amounting to approximately RM5 million.

The project was approved by the State Planning Council on June 13, 2023.

The land acquisition process was carried out under the Statutory Notice of Sections 48 and 3 & 4 of the Sarawak Land Code, approved on September 29, 2023.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including the landowners who received the compensation
