Pulau Bruit Water Supply Project Worth Over RM60 Million Set To Be Implemented

SEMOP: The residents of Pulau Bruit will soon enjoy sufficient and high-quality water supply with a new project set to be implemented by the Sarawak Government.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the project involves the supply of 5 million litres per day (MLD) of water to the island with the overall project cost estimated to exceed RM60 million.
According to him, the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
"Hopefully by the end of this year, we will be able to officiate the 5 MLD of water supplied to Pulau Bruit," he said during his speech at the launching of the Pulau Bruit Festival at the Semop Rural Growth Centre (RGC) site on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also approved a new housing scheme involving 56 blocks in Pulau Bruit with a total cost of RM4.5 million which will be borne by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Government.
"The houses to be built will be similar to those in Kampung Dato or Kemuyang in Sibu, and Sungai Bedaun in Kuching. GPS will cover the RM10,000 deposit, and the rest you will pay.
"We will provide more if needed, as I believe the future of Sarawak is very bright,” he added.
In addition, an allocation of RM5 million has been approved for the construction of an agriculture centre and food court in Pulau Bruit, along with RM5.6 million to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) for the repair of fishermen's houses.
At the same event, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also presented land titles for lands gazetted under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code to three recipients, followed by the presentation of land compensation cheques for the Acquisition Project of the Existing Site of SK Sebako Bruit Land District, Mukah Division, covering an area of 0.423 hectares involving seven lots to a single recipient.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Member of Parliament for Tanjung Manis, Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab, Member of Parliament for Igan, Ahmad Johnie Zawawi, Daro Assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, and Mukah Division Resident, Kueh Lei Poh. -UKASnews
