SARIKEI (Nov 28): The Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) initiative under the Fourth Malaysia Plan reflects the state government’s commitment and concern towards the low-income groups, said Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
The Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment said this in his speech at the handing over of Temporary Occupation Licence for Bukit Kinyau village expansion scheme here recently.
“Through SPS and SPK, the government has provided residential lots that are more well-planned and equipped with basic facilities such as roads, drainage systems, water supply and electricity.
“Since 2018, there has been development of new infrastructure which include paved roads, concrete drains, walled lots, and a reticulated water supply and electricity system costing about RM150,000 for each lot,” he said.
Additionally, he said the Sarawak government has set the land premium payment not exceeding RM2,500 for each lot where payments can be made in annual instalment over a period of 10 years.
Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said the state government has also introduced the Spectra Permata Housing (RSP), developed under the SPS and SPK schemes, in collaboration with the Sarawak Housing Development Corporation.
“The RSP has three bedrooms, a living room, and a dining area, and these homes can be modified in the future.
“Eligible lot owners for the RSP will be offered loan financing facilities through Mutiara Mortgage and Credit Sdn Bhd with interest rates that will not burden the involved lot owners,” he said.
During the event, a total of 53 recipients received their temporary occupation licences for the Bukit Kinyau village expansion scheme.
Also present was a personnel from the Sarikei Land and Survey Department Awan Amal.
