As the implementing agency of the above project, the Lands and Surveys Department (L&S) would like to enlighten the public that the delay of the upgrading on the 1.4 kilometer Jalan Oya project is mainly due to the tedious and complicated underground service shifting and relocation works and is not due to the poor performance of the contractor.

L&S has collaborated closely and will continue to work diligently with the relevant utility agencies to relocate these services meticulously without disruptions by prioritizing public safety. The strategic coordination among the various agencies aims to mitigate delays through a strategic sequence of relocation works and innovative construction methodologies.

The physical progress as of today has achieved 69.74% as compared to the scheduled progress of 71.51%, which is still considered as manageable. The utility agencies are committed to complete all the relocation of services by first quarter of 2024, consequently impacting the road construction timeline until November 2024.

L&S maintains its commitment to expediting the project with unwavering dedication to safety, efficiency, and high-quality standards. L&S also extend their gratitude for the public's understanding and patience throughout the construction period.
